Thursday April 1, 2021

The Mailbox, Stockport

At The Mailbox there are 117 stunning rental apartments and 12,500 sq ft of flexible office space for businesses of all sizes. This Award Winning regeneration project features a wonderful open atrium at the heart of the development, an incredible roof terrace where residents can enjoy stunning views and an 18m-high living wall that covers part of all four elevations of the building.

Rise Homes are committed to sustainability, making a determined and conscious effort through a number of design, construction and operating decisions to lessen our own footprint, and that of our residents and occupiers, on the environment.

Rise Homes has developed five schemes with biomass district heating systems. Our Tribe Apartments scheme, which completed in 2015 and achieved BREEAM outstanding, won the prestigious global award for a residential scheme from BREEAM, the World’s leading sustainability assessment code. BREEAM rated developments are more sustainable environments that enhance the well-being of the people who live and work in them, help protect natural resources and make for more attractive property investments. You can read more about our Commitment to Sustainability here.

Priding themselves on ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance), Rise Homes wanted to include a living wall on the facade of the building in the initial designs. Working closely with ANS Global, Mosaic Town Planning, Stockport City Council, Pozzoni Architects and Elder Lester McGregor to complete the urban greening scheme, which involved not just one but 4 different living walls over 4 elevations.  At 1190m2 there are 114,240 plants that wrap around the building!
