Extra Care Housing is intended to enable and support older people to live independently for as long as possible, but with the reassurance that care and support services are available should they need them, either now or in the future. Extra Care Schemes have a dedicated care support team based on-site 24 hours a day, offering services to people with ongoing care needs and providing emergency care if required.
Extra care housing often appeals to couples where one might be relatively fit and the other less so. It also provides a secure living environment that reassures relatives.
Our retirement apartments in Manchester are available for social rent, aiming for them to be both accessible and affordable. All apartments are wheelchair accessible, with good-sized rooms, and built and equipped to the highest specifications, with double glazing and energy-efficient central heating.
Each apartment has its own front door opening onto a bright, wide corridor, and many homes in the scheme also have balconies. Living rooms have connection points for satellite and Freeview TV, radio, phone, broadband, and a link to the main entrance so that residents can let friends and family in. All assisted living apartments are well-sized with ample storage space; there are also phone and TV points in the master bedrooms. Spacious kitchens have a fitted electric oven and hob. Our apartments have a fully fitted shower room with slip-resistant, self-draining floors.
For safety and security, our extra care apartments are protected by a number of safety features, including a door entry system and closed-circuit security cameras. An emergency call system connects residents to staff 24 hours a day in the case of an emergency.
