Rise Homes Celebrates the Opening of The Interchange Apartments
Friday September 27, 2024
Last week, Rise Homes, alongside its development partners, gathered to celebrate the official opening of the Interchange Apartments in Stockport. The award-winning build-to-rent scheme, located above Stockport’s new transport interchange, welcomed residents, local dignitaries, and project collaborators for an afternoon of festivities marking the milestone.
The event brought together Rise Homes and its joint venture partner, Cityheart, alongside representatives from Stockport Council, Stockport MDC, GMCA, TfGM, and Willmott Dixon. Together, they celebrated the completion of this landmark project, which has already become a cornerstone of Stockport’s residential offering.
With 196 high-quality 1- and 2-bedroom apartments available, over 150 units are already let or reserved, demonstrating the strong demand for this premium housing option in the heart of Stockport. Many of the new residents joined Rise Homes and the project team to celebrate the official opening.
The formal opening ceremony, led by the Mayor of Stockport, Suzanne Wyatt, was followed by an afternoon filled with entertainment, live music, delicious food, and drinks. The private garden and adjacent park created the perfect backdrop for the celebrations, with entertainment organized by Strawberry Radio’s Paul Taylor, known for coordinating local events such as Stockport’s popular ‘Hits on the Pitch’ festival.
Nigel Rawlings, speaking on behalf of Rise Homes, shared his thoughts on the project’s success:
“We had high expectations for the demand at Interchange Apartments, given the spacious layouts and exceptional build quality. However, the response from prospective tenants has far exceeded what we anticipated. The apartments offer luxurious, spacious living, which is attracting a diverse range of renters looking for quality accommodation.”
He added:
“We designed shared accessible spaces, including a private external garden, to enhance the residents’ experience. Alongside the adjacent public park, these features create a unique living environment. It’s wonderful to see that over 150 units are already occupied or reserved, which speaks to the high demand. The Interchange Apartments are setting a new standard for residential living in Stockport, and we’re proud to contribute to the town’s ongoing transformation.”
The event welcomed over 80 residents and key partners involved in the development. One resident, who relocated from Pakistan with her family, praised the high standard of the accommodation and the convenience of local amenities, stating:
“We’ve been thoroughly enjoying our new home and are delighted with everything the Interchange Apartments offer. We initially considered renting in Manchester but were impressed by what Stockport had to offer, especially with its new transport hub and local services.”
The Interchange Apartments boast a prime location alongside Stockport’s state-of-the-art transport hub, featuring a link bridge to the train station, a cycle path to the River Mersey, and the two-acre Interchange Park, offering residents easy access to the town’s green spaces and commuter links.
Built by Willmott Dixon, Stockport Interchange is a collaborative project involving Stockport Council, Stockport MDC, TfGM, GMCA, and development partner CityRise, a joint venture between Cityheart and Rise Homes. Since completion, the project has earned numerous accolades, including the ‘Community Impact of the Year’ award at the Cowgills North West Homebuilders Awards and ‘Best Funding Structure’ at The International Partnership Awards.
